Yup, I got legs and I think I know how to use them! I had a good day of riding yesterday, especially considering my usual sleeping problems have begun, and I got almost no sleep. This, despite the fact that I was in a really comfortable bed. I got up early and had the breakfast at the hotel, which didn’t really do it for me.
I headed down Route 1 in minimal traffic. Took a left turn and then headed down Route 172 towards Surry. I’m still not sure why ACA took me off of Route 1, but 172 was pretty and there was very little traffic. It was cool at the start with almost no wind, which I was grateful for, until it warmed up a little and the bugs showed up. I’m pretty slow climbing the hills and those bugs can really drive you crazy. They were attracted to my trailer and gathered in a cloud around it. I turned right onto 176 and continued on to Orland and back to Route 1. I was getting pretty hungry at this point, so I crossed the bridge onto Verona Island, and had a fabulous, cheap omelet at the Rise & Shine. It was so fluffy and yummy.
Got back on the road and crossed the beautiful bridge off of Verona Island. It was spitting rain at this point, but not bad. It was a nice ride to Stockton Springs, and I checked in with Gramma. Riding into Searsport presented me with some hills, and I got off my bike and walked a few times. Then it was a short ride to Belfast, which is VERY hilly. I had to struggle to push my bike and trailer up Main Street. Alex welcomed me and took me out for a fabulous seafood dinner. Such a nice guy! Taking a day off today. Peace.
Hi, Katy! Enjoy your day off and the fresh delicious food! It is amazing to me how far you go in a single day on a bicycle!! How is your body feeling?
