On My Own (Day Eight)

I cut my ride a little short today, because I wasn’t sure I’d be able to find a place to stay in East Derry. I left Maine behind (sadly) and crossed into New Hampshire. I’ll be honest with you, New Hampshire isn’t really on my list of favorite states to visit in the  U.S., but I’ve been having a really nice time in Exeter. The people here have been so kind, and they’re taking good care of me here.

I desperately needed to do some laundry, so that’s all taken care of, and I have all the clean clothes I’ll need to get me to Massachusetts. I went over to the Thirsty Moose for an appetizer and sat outside until I felt like I was melting into a Katy Blue puddle. Moved in to the bar, which was nice because I was able to socialize a little. When you ride a bike all day, you really begin to miss the human interaction. I’ll back up a little: I started the day with a muffin and a good cup of coffee in Kittery. Crossing into Portsmouth, and making my way through Portsmouth was a breeze! The weather was perfect: slightly cloudy, a little cool and no wind. I followed my directions very well (could I be getting better at this??) and made it to Exeter. The towns I passsed through were just lovely, and I really enjoyed the ride. I stopped at a garden center with a cafe, and had a fantastic spinach bagel for lunch.

I’m excited to get back on the road tomorrow and make up some time. I hope I can sleep tonight. I’ve gone over a week now with no sleep at all. It makes this even more difficult.

I just want to say I’m so grateful to those of you that have stuck by me through this, and are reading my blog! You are truly awesome. A few of my friends are following me on the Find a Friend app. It will tell you exactly where I am at all times, and show you the progress I am making. If you would like to follow me with this app, please let me know, and I’ll set it up. 20 miles today.
