A combination of no sleep last night and 90 degree weather meant a short day of riding today. But I planned it well. Started off with a so-so breakfast at the diner in Millerton (bad choice), and then hopped right on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail. It goes for 10 miles from Millerton to Wassaic. It was so gorgeous; I just wish it had gone on for another 10 miles! It was the perfect way to start my day. I haven’t been listening to my music, since the roads I’ve been riding on lately have been kinda treacherous. Today I put the music on and rode down the bike path singing Genie in a Bottle and numerous other hits from the 90’s. It was so nice. There were lots of other bikers out today, and most of them smiled at me and said hi.
I got a cheap room in Dover Plains and picked up a turkey sandwich in Wassaic. It was so nice to have my yummy sandwich in air conditioned comfort! Only about 20 miles today. Tomorrow I’ll get to Poughkeepsie, and then I’m excited to go across the Walkway Over the Hudson Bridge. Looks like I’ll be doing some riding in the rain tomorrow, so I should get an early start. I’m feeling good, and I think I might be losing some weight! Yay! Hope everyone’s having a great holiday weekend. My Gramma turns 92 today. Happy Birthday, Gramma!! Love you!!!
