I actually got a little bit of sleep last night! It’s true. I tried so hard to stay up later, like my road angel suggested, but my eyes wouldn’t stay open. I woke up super early, like I always do, but still felt better for the sleep. I’m really going to need a laundry stop today. No clean clothes. A lot of my clothes in my trailer have gotten dirty just as I go down the road. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seal up completely.
Today will be my last day in New Jersey. I get to spend a lot of time in Pennsylvania now. I had a yummy peach muffin and several cups of coffee, and then my road angel (aka Gary), showed up with my care package from Chuck, a new fender for my front tire, and some bottled water. I’m so grateful for that. The care package was cool - I put it together before I left. Edamame, Vermont Smoke & Cure sticks, gummy Coke bottles, seaweed sheets, a blouse (getting a little tired of wearing the same shirt every day), some Shot Bloks, and a few nips. I sent Gary home with my Patriots hoodie, something I don’t think I need anymore, and probably not the smartest thing to wear around Philadelphia.
Perfect riding weather today, after the thunderstorms last night. It was cool with a nice breeze. Unfortunately, I did a dumb thing. Hard to believe, I know! I neglected to check the straps on my trailer, and some of my stuff fell out. Gone. I lost a really nice biking jacket (bright green with a built-in light) and a bra. I called the police and left a message to see if anyone had picked them up on the road, but the police did not return my call.
I made it to Conshohocken, which is the last town on Map 2! Yay! Had dinner at Ruby Tuesday, since it was the only place around. I haven’t been to one since I lived in Florida. It was OK. The bartender, Christian, was really nice and chatted with me for a while. Looking forward to starting Map 3 tomorrow, which will take me to Richmond, Virginia. No coastline riding for a while.
